More than just punching and kicking

Classes in our school cover a wide range of practices and skills.

Body conditioning
Great for getting fit, our classes are a full body workout. No need to get in shape before coming in.

Forms practice
Karate includes forms known as kata. These forms include punches, kicks, throws, locks, and evasions.

Sparring
Also called kumite, our sparring sessions consist of light body contact with protective hand, foot and head gear. Students are taught step-by-step how to protect by guarding and blocking while delivering controlled punches and kicks.

Throws & Joint Locks
Most of our throws and joint locks come from a Japanese art called judo. In class, matted surfaces are used while teaching students how to unbalance, knock down, and immobilize.

Self Defense
Self defense begins with recognizing and staying away from dangerous situations. Studies in our school range from avoidance to controlling a physical confrontation.

Weapons
Our karate study primarily focuses on weaponless techniques. However, at the instructor's discretion, advanced students (black belts and very high level brown belts) are also trained in Okinawan
kobudo techniques using weapons such as the bo, sai, and tonfa.
